If I Were a Virtual Assistant Starting My Personal Brand…
Here’s 3 quick tips to exactly what I’d do. No fluff, just real strategy to stand out, show up, and start building brand equity from day one.
On LinkedIn:
I’d clean up my headline. Something like:
Helping busy CEOs scale with systems, content, and calm.I’d post once a week with behind-the-scenes insights, simple workflow tips, or how I helped a client save time.
I’d comment daily on posts from creators in the online business, executive coaching, or startup spaces, not just VAs.
Tip: Add “Virtual Assistant for [your niche]” in your tagline so you show up in searches.
On Instagram:
I’d stop trying to go viral and focus on building authority.
I’d use carousels to break down how I do things differently (onboarding, time-blocking, client care, etc).
I’d do voice-over Reels explaining what I do and why it matters to overwhelmed CEOs.
And let’s not forget — Instagram is a powerful community for virtual assistants. It’s often where most VAs start building their brand, finding clients, and getting inspired. You’ll see others doing similar work, and that’s not competition, that’s community.
Engage. Interact. Learn. Support. Repeat.
Tip: Use Instagram like a mini-portfolio. Make it easy for dream clients to say, “I need this.”
🎯 Real Talk: If you can get good at strategic prompt writing, basic automation, and building custom GPTs for specific client needs, you're in the top 10% of VAs right now.
Invest in Learning AI:
If you’re a VA and you aren’t paying attention to AI, start today. You don’t need to be a tech expert, you just need to be curious and intentional.
Here’s how I’d do it:
Curate a “must-follow” list of creators and educators who break down AI in a way that’s accessible, practical, and future-minded. Start with:
Ruben Hassid (@rubenhassid.ai) – LinkedIn + IG: Great breakdowns of GPT and AI trends
Matt Wolfe (@mreflow) – YouTube: AI news, experiments, and comparisons
Samantha R. AI (@samantha.ai.tools) – IG + Threads: AI tools for service-based businesses
Explore across platforms:
YouTube for tutorials,
TikTok for fast insights,
LinkedIn for strategic use cases,
Instagram for relatable content.

One of the smartest moves you can make is to diversify the platforms where you learn about AI. Why? Because each platform caters to a different type of audience.
On LinkedIn, creators might break things down for CEOs and executives.
On Instagram, they might frame the same information in a more creative, visually-driven way.
On YouTube, they might go deeper with tutorials and experiments.
Following a creator across multiple platforms gives you a full picture of how they think and how trends can be applied differently depending on the audience.
This matters because staying up to date is half the battle. The creators who are consistently breaking news and sharing updates about AI are usually the ones most tuned in.
For example, Ruben and Charlie on LinkedIn were among the first to break down the release of ChatGPT-5 and explain what it meant for users. That kind of speed matters. The lead time they had in surfacing insights shows how on top of it they are. And as a VA, you want to emulate that. Your clients need someone who doesn’t just know about tools but also knows what’s coming next and how to use it to streamline their business.
That’s the separator. Anyone can dabble in AI. Few will truly stay ahead of the curve. And in 2025 and beyond, the VAs who do will be the ones that rise above the noise, command higher rates, and build personal brands that are impossible to ignore.
Final Thoughts:
You don’t need a big following. You need a clear brand and confidence in what you bring to the table. Start by showing up with intention, building community, and learning the tools that will position you for high-value opportunities.
